Anna Wintour said she would never invite Donald Trump to the Met Gala again.

With the Met Gala set to return in 2025, Anna Wintour’s past comments on The Late Late Show with James Corden have resurfaced, where she revealed the one celebrity she would never invite to the event.

During the Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts segment in 2017, the show’s host asked Wintour, “Who would you never invite to the Met Gala?” If she didn’t answer the question, she would have to eat a pretty disgusting dish, so she chose to answer.

At a gala exploring diversity and inclusion, the writer, who is in charge of selecting the guest list for the annual event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, revealed that there is one celebrity she would never invite again, and that is: Donald Trump.

For Anna Wintour, the former U.S. president is persona non grata at the celebration that, this year (2025), is being co-chaired by Wintour herself along with Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, and A$AP Rocky, with LeBron James serving as an honorary co-chair.

Given that this year’s theme — “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” — focuses on celebrating Black dandyism and the evolution of Black men’s fashion, it’s very likely that many attendees will choose to reference Black identity, culture, and history through their clothing. Therefore, the former president’s presence would be pointless, as Trump vehemently opposed the Black rights movement.
