Google, the technology giant, reported Thursday – March 13 – that in order to strengthen the user experience and provide them with more personal recommendations, it added a new feature in its Artificial Intelligence chatbot, Gemini.
The company issued a statement in which it reported that the new version Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, which is still in the experimental phase, this chatbot, will be able to refer to the user’s Google history to better understand it and respond better to their preferences.
Dave Citron, Gemini’s product director, explained that this new update is looking to create a personal assistant that understands users.
“With Gemini we’re creating a personal AI assistant who doesn’t just answer general questions, but understands you,” director Citron stated.
The official also indicated that in the coming months, this chatbot can be linked to other Google applications and services, such as Photos, Calendar, Notes or even YouTube, which will give a broader knowledge of the user’s activities and preferences.
In the statement shared by the company, it was also explained that when the user asks a question to the chatbot, it will analyse it and determine whether the search history can improve the answer.
As this model is still in the experimental phase, Gemini’s update is available only on the app’s subscriber website, over time it is expected to be gradually extended to cell phones.
In addition, Google indicated that this artificial intelligence will ask the user for permission before entering the search history or another application
This new feature will be available in more than 40 languages and in most countries of the world.
“All these updates are designed to make Gemini feel less like a tool and more like a natural extension of you,” Citron said.
It should be clarified that Google’s chatbot updates come just a month after China’s DeepSeek AI shook the US technology market because of its low costs.
