Bolero Crashes Into Bus Near Mahakumbh: 10 Dead, 19 Injured

Synopsis: A Bolero carrying devotees on their way to Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, UP, met with a tragic accident. 10 devotees lost their lives in a head-on collision between the Bolero and a bus, while 19 others sustained injuries. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.

A major road accident has taken place in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh. Ten devotees have died in the accident. While 19 have been injured. Police reached the spot as soon as the information was received. Police has taken the bodies into custody. Also, the injured have been admitted to the hospital. 

According to reports, the horrific accident occurred on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway in Meja, late on Friday night. The Bolero full of devotees collided head-on with a bus, resulting in the tragic loss of 10 lives.

All the 10 devotees travelling in the Bolero died on the spot in the accident. The 10 deceased were residents of Korba district, Chhattisgarh. They were heading to the Mahakumbh fair area for the Sangam bath.

19 Injured Devotees Were Bus Passengers

The bus was carrying devotees from Rajgarh district, Madhya Pradesh, who had just taken a holy dip in the Sangam and were heading towards Varanasi. 19 devotees sustained injuries and were immediately admitted to CHC Ramnagar.

Bus Was in Its Own Lane When the Collision Happened

It is being told that the tourist bus was going on its own side when a Bolero coming from the front at a high speed collided directly with it.

Rodmal, a bus passenger who was injured, shared his experience:

“Most of the people in the bus were sleeping when the accident happened. Suddenly, there was a terrible collision. I was awake and sitting in the cabin of the bus when the Bolero, coming at a high speed, crashed into us head-on.”

All the deceased have been identified through their Aadhar cards and mobile numbers found in their pockets. The police have informed the relatives of the deceased about the incident. The relatives have left Chhattisgarh.

The Bolero passengers were traveling directly from Chhattisgarh to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh.
